Home Staging was introduced to the real estate industry by Barb Schwarz, a licensed Real Estate agent, with a background in interior design.  She educated her residential real estate clients on how to create an atmosphere that would get them top dollar for their home.  In 1985 she began training other REALTORS® in how to Stage® homes, and has developed the “Accredited Staging Professional® (ASP)® Course” for real estate professionals.  This program has been hugely successful, because it gives home sellers such an advantage over the competition when preparing homes for sale.

It’s a fact that 90% of home owners start their search for a home online.  This means thousands of people will virtually “walk through” a home before setting up a showing.  It used to be that curb appeal was the buyer’s first impression of a home for sale.  This is no longer the case.  Often, buyers have already formed an opinion of the home simply based on photos seen online.  Better photos of a home to more showings, and more showings generally mean a faster sale!

Staged Homes Sell Faster and For Higher Prices

Did you know that 94% of ASP® Staged Homes sell on average in 29 days or less, compared to 145 days for non-staged homes for sale?  Typically, after a home is on the market more than 30 days, sellers may consider a dropping the price.  The upfront cost of staging a home is significantly smaller than a price reduction.  Staged homes for sale sell on average for 5% more and six times faster than non-staged homes!
